Editorial and magazine

The Amsterdam Vertelt project was initiated by Foam (Amsterdam Photography Museum) and OBA (Amsterdam Public Library). We were asked to design and edit three of the four magazines (the first magazine was made by our colleagues at Vandejong). As part of the editorial team, together with the participants and project leaders, we decided which images made it into the magazine and which ones didn’t. We began each editorial meeting with a low-key presentation discussing how a magazine is actually made.

Workshops

Young and old residents from Amsterdam Southeast, North, New-West and South worked on their own creative talents during various workshops and masterclasses, by visualising different personal stories from their neighbourhood. They also went into their neighbourhood to take remarkable and striking photos, good camera in hand. They were accompanied by professional photographers and writers such as Henk Wildschut, Abdelkader Benali, Christine Otten and Renée van Marissing. This is how Foam and OBA brought these locals into contact with art and culture and each other.
